HAN e-Newsletter Issue June 2007
Welcome to our June e Newsletter and the end of the Australian
fiscal year. Hopefully the tax man will look upon you favourably,
on one hand because we all hate paying taxes and on other because
you only pay tax when you've made some money! It's a sobering
thought that 2008 is only 6 months away and only 11 months to
drupa.
Following the Australian National Print Awards in May, the
New Zealand Pride in Print Awards were held in Christchurch in
early June. Once again the Kiwi's put on a unique event. This
year the evening was themed around the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Riff Raff did the honours handing out awards to entries that
reflected the year-on-year improvement in quality and innovation
that we see in our industry region wide. Also of note is the fact
that, despite the continued consolidation of our industry through
merger and acquisition and the focus on manufacturing rather than
craft quality standards are still improving. Likewise, new
technology and automation are improving the overall quality of
print and while not taking anything away from the passion and
skills of the people involved, award winning quality exists in
highly automated, high volume, plants just the same as in the
smaller, niche players the industry is founded upon. Size has
nothing to do with it as the Australian and New Zealand Awards
prove both.
Enjoy this edition, especially take a look at
Heidelberg's online shop special offers and deals and go online

Slurring
Slurring is when the shape of the halftone dot changes. The
printed image then appears to be displaced as the round halftone
dot assumes an oval shape.
