Thermal CtP – Small footprint, big benefit
At PrintEx 07 Heidelberg unveiled its new member of the Suprasetter
family and a new workflow version for smaller businesses.
Being the most compact device in its class, the Suprasetter A52/74 is built to suit requirements of smaller business with limited floor space. It has built-in punches and offers automation as an option without increasing the foot print and offers printers an economical way to enter thermal CtP production and benefit from reliable plate production. The device is also prepared for process-free or chemical-free plates. The Suprasetter A52/74 automatically removes the slip-sheet between the plates, so there is no need to unpack the pack of plates before loading, avoiding scratches and bends.
The new Suprasetter A52/74 comes in two format classes, 2up and 4up and can be used manually or fully automatic. The A52 images up to 17 plates per hour, the A74 has a performance of 14 plates per hour - both depending plate type and sensitivity.
Automation made easy
The Auto-Top-Loader (ATL) can be added whenever demand for automation increases. Because the ATL is fitted to the top of the device no additional floor space is needed The upgrade can be done on-site in half a day. The plate tray in the loader holds up to 100 plates (0.15 mm). The Suprasetter has an integrated conveyor, which transfers the imaged plate into a cleanout unit, a processor, or directly into a stacker if the plate does not require processing.
Heidelberg Laser
The Suprasetter A52/74 uses the same laser module as the entire Suprasetter family. The module is developed and produced by Heidelberg and works with 64 beams. Different from competitive devices, the intelligent laser system ensures that production continues even if a laser beam fails. While some other CtP devices would stop completely until the laserhead is replaced, the Suprasetter just switches off the faulty channel automatically and keep working.
At PrintEx Heidelberg also presented a dedicated RIP for the Suprasetter A52/74. The well-known MetaDimension software has been developed to suit the small business environment and is called MetaDimension 52i. This version includes Imposition Editor which provides impositioning without extensive user training and cost.
