The inaugural Women in Print dinners took place across Australia
in March and have been declared an outstanding success.
Georgie Grabyn, Patron for Women in Print, and Heidelberg's
HR Manager, said of the events, "The response to Women in Print has
been very positive. Across five states nearly 300 women attended
the dinners and feedback has shown a great desire for the
initiative to continue."
Heidelberg initiated the concept and with the support of
co-sponsors Australia Post, CJ King & Co Printers,
Fivestargrafx, Heaneys Performers in Print, Proprint, Edwards
Dunlop Paper, VIBE, GAMAA and Printers Post, women from the
Australian print media industry gathered for an evening of food and
drink, networking and fun with their peers.
Guest speaker Catharine Lumby, associate professor of media
studies at Sydney University, spoke at each of the dinners and said
that Women in Print had been a great success and a rewarding
experience for her because she was able to meet so many interesting
women.
Women in Print is set to continue with events for next year
soon to be planned. Georgie Grabyn said, "Women in Print will
continue to gather momentum, following on from the positive
response to our inaugural dinners. Once feedback from all states
has been gathered we will start to plan next year's events.
Heidelberg will continue to drive and sponsor this initiative and
the invitation is still open for more support and sponsorship from
within the industry. Without the dedication and hard work from our
sponsors, as well as the support from women across the country,
these events could not have been as successful as they were."
