Taking advantage of Heidelberg's tailor made package, Geraldton
(WA) based Sun City Print has upgraded its press - not just
investing in new equipment but also investing in their businesses'
growth and future prosperity.
Sun City has been operating for 23 years and has successfully
served the needs of the local community, with business growth being
slow but steady.
A small print shop with five employees, Sun City Print
produces a wide range of commercial print jobs including business
cards, letterheads and NCR books. Customers include small business
operators, local governments and large mining and engineering
companies. As well Sun City produces colour jobs such as tourism
brochures and maps.
In September 2006, Ken Ward, Sun City's director, felt it was
time to steer the business towards becoming a high-quality,
high-productivity printing operation. With greater demand for
colour jobs best served by a more productive press, Ward consulted
with Heidelberg and decided to buy a Speedmaster SM 52-2.
"The decision-making process went smoothly, with good
suggestions from Heidelberg showing that they really understood my
business and what we wanted to achieve," says Ward. "The SM52-2
suits us so well because the tailor made package includes extended
service and a supply of consumables we will need to use on this
press. The package gives us peace of mind and saves lots of
hassles."
He added, "The installation process was so efficient - the
old machine was taken out and the new press installed the next day.
Day three involved testing and we went into production right after
that.
The press has been doing a great job so far. As we had hoped,
it made it a lot easier to tackle jobs which in the past would have
been difficult if not impossible for us to take on. Another good
thing about this press is that it's easy to use and short make
ready time has increased our productivity."
Looking to the future, Ward is very confident. "Even though
we have expanded our product range we still have room to further
boost output and take on more work, the result of which is that we
expect the business to continue to grow. We are already planning
our next move - a new CtP system to match the machine."
