For over a half century BHB Printing has steadily developed and
grown by adapting to new technologies and holding true to what it
sees as the key drivers for its own business success.
Established in 1947 by the Howlett family, BHB has always
seen its customers, staff and printing presses as its strongest
assets.
Through a long term commitment to these three elements, BHB
is able to provide a wide range of quality printing products to
serve their customers, which range from small local businesses to
large multinational companies.
BHB's factory floor can best be described as a 'gallery of
Heidelberg Printmasters'. The company began upgrading its plant
when they installed their first PM74-2 in early 2002 followed by
two Printmaster GTO 52-2's installed in 2002 and 2003.
After four years of steady business growth
BHB purchased a PM74-2-P and a PM52-2 in 2006. Adding to the
Printmaster family is a PM52-5 which is currently being installed -
taking the company's fleet of Heidelberg presses to ten.
"We have continually invested in new equipment and facilities
as the pace of change in commercial print demands it, as do our
clients, said Craig Howlett, General Manager of BHB Printing.
"Our investment philosophy is to achieve the best quality
result for our clients in the shortest timeframe, so we need to be
extremely flexible and responsive to our clients needs. In order to
meet these objectives we require quality, reliable equipment," he
added.
"We have enjoyed a steady and mutually beneficial partnership
with Heidelberg over many years," said Howlett. "The Printmaster
range offers great flexibility for us to spec up or down according
to our plant's requirements. For a large jobbing type shop
such as ours we like the fact that we can choose press
features according to the way we operate."
The latest PM74 and PM 52 installed at BHB are equipped with
more options which suited the expanded range of services they offer
and enables BHB to react more flexibly to their client needs.
"We are always trying to get the most from our equipment,"
said Howlett. "We have three plate sizes across our ten presses and
with similar configurations, it will be easier to take on and meet
the most critical projects. In other words, we are very flexible in
general commercial printing and all kinds of financial services
printing."
BHB are careful investors and as such are not always the
first with new technologies, however, they are open
to new ways and means and know what best suits their
style of work. "We hope we can continue to grow the business,
attract and retain our clients both new and old as they are the
ones who have sustained us for so many years," concludes
Craig.
