New, more user-friendly design
At drupa 2008, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) will be
showcasing new options and a new design for the Varimatrix 105 CS
(CS stands for cutting and stripping) that will make the die cutter
even more flexible and user-friendly. It is the second most popular
entry-level solution for commercial and packaging printers
worldwide.
The Varimatrix 105 CS cuts and embosses paper of 80 grams per
square meter and above, card or solid board up to 1,400 grams per
square meter, and corrugated board up to a thickness of four
millimeters (0.16 inch) at a processing speed of up to 7,500 sheets
per hour and a cutting force of up to 300 tons. The sheet formats
that can be processed range from a minimum of 350 x 400 millimeters
(13.78 x 15.75 inches) to a maximum of 750 x 1,050 millimeters
(29.53 x 41.34 inches).
New, more user-friendly design
The new Heidelberg design makes the Varimatrix 105 CS more
user-friendly. There are now control panels at all key stations on
the machine and the control elements are arranged ergonomically to
facilitate operation. A new step on the operator's side provides
easy access into the machine. This is particularly useful when
setting up and changing over die cutting tools. The Varimatrix 105
CS incorporates gripper margin removal as standard. This dispenses
with the need for manual removal and thus saves valuable time.
Further options - including fine adjustment of the cutting
plate and a chase for quick and smooth locking and unlocking of die
cutting tools - make the machine even more user-friendly. A
quicklock frame for the upper stripping tool with integrated fine
adjustment ensures short makeready times, while straightforward
frame adjustment makes for straightforward reproducibility of
repeat jobs.
New options mean greater flexibility
One new option for the Varimatrix 105 CS is the small sheet
device for the 300 x 350 millimeter (11.81 x 13.78 inch) format.
This is suitable for paper and card from 80 grams per square meter
to 1,400 grams per square meter and corrugated board with a total
thickness of up to four millimeters (0.16 inch). Further options
include tried-and-tested anti-static devices for processing paper
at the feeder and belt table and for handling plastic materials in
the stripping station and delivery.
Thanks to technical features, such as an independent
servomotor for the belt table, the Varimatrix 105 CS impresses with
its high quality, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness. The belt
speed can be adjusted independently of the machine speed. Sheets
are fed to the front and side guide edges at optimum speed, and
this smooth sheet travel results in a higher net output.
All four front lays are equipped with optical sensors and can
be paired as required to provide optimum system monitoring. This
ensures even better quality control over the entire sheet width.
The frame of the die cutting tool is locked pneumatically by
pressing a button, thereby facilitating Varimatrix setup and
changeover operations.
