IPEX 2010 – Heidelberg Expands Suprasetter A52/A75 Family

03/04/2010

  • New Dual Top Loader (DTL) for greater automation
  • Up to 58 percent higher plate throughput boosts productivity
  • New imaging option: "High Resolution 5080dpi"
  • Energy-saving entry-level models with excellent environmental credentials
Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) is expanding the Suprasetter A52 and Suprasetter A75 models of its Suprasetter family for thermal printing plate production. Since October 2009, a higher plate throughput has resulted in a 58 percent increase in productivity. From IPEX 2010, Heidelberg will be complementing its Auto Top Loader (ATL) for fully automated plate feed of one plate format with the new Dual Top Loader (DTL) that enables fully automated plate feed of two different plate sizes.

Both units - the CtP platesetter and the optional automation module (ATL or DTL) - can fit into a space of just 2.6 square meters (28 square feet) because the ATL/DTL is placed directly on top of the imaging unit. This space-saving concept is unique in the industry.

Another new feature is the additional imaging option "High Resolution 5080dpi". This enables special security printing applications such as banknotes, guilloches, and certificates to be imaged in maximum resolution.

All models can also be fully integrated into the Prinect print shop workflow.

Ecological printing - Suprasetter entry-level models protect the environment
Compared to rival systems, the entry-level models of the Suprasetter series demonstrate above-average environmental credentials. Consuming 0.7 kilowatts per hour, the Suprasetter A52 and A75 platesetters require around five times less power and generate around five times less waste heat than comparable models from other manufacturers. As a result, there is often no need for an air-conditioning system. Combined with the low power consumption, this generates savings of around EUR 2,700 per year compared to rival systems in the same market segment, and also protects the environment. As these machines are not generally sensitive to fluctuations in humidity - which can lie between 30 and 70 percent - there is often no call for an additional, energy-intensive air humidification system. All Suprasetter models can be operated using both conventional and chemical-free printing plates, including Heidelberg's own brand Saphira consumables range.

Heidelberg at IPEX 2010:
The terms HEI Performance and HEI Value reflect the extensive portfolio of state-of-the-art technologies and services from Heidelberg for the economical and environmentally friendly production of print products. At the trade show, the company will be providing practical demonstrations to highlight how media service providers, print shops, and postpress specialists can act on current market trends and adapt their portfolios accordingly. Heidelberg will be demonstrating how to optimize business and production processes across the entire value added chain of sheetfed offset printing, while also minimizing their environmental impact.

The numerous practical demonstrations will enable visitors to the event to find out how they can achieve economic success with short-run high-end print applications, stand out from the crowd with creative print applications, and make the Internet an integral part of their business strategy.
