Easygluer 100: It is the Packaging that Counts

The booming packaging market is making it increasingly attractive for commercial printers to provide customers in this segment with full service. The folder gluer Easygluer 100 is the ideal entry model for productively manufacturing high-quality packaging.

Why just print packaging when you can also fold and glue? Commercial printers, who up till now have outsourced finishing for folding boxes to external specialists, find themselves in a dilemma: with their workload, they cannot compete with packaging specialists and thus make up the costs of acquisition. On the other hand, they are dependent on the schedule and quality of their service provider when outsourcing finishing. Particularly in the case of shorter runs with high quality packaging, it can still be worthwhile to manufacture folding boxes completely in-house. Thanks to its flexibility and high reliability in production, the Easygluer 100 is the ideal entry into the professional manufacturing of folding boxes.
Good Things Come in Short Runs
"With the Easygluer 100, we placed particular importance on versatility and flexibility. It's not meant for producing mass items. Instead, its strength lies in being able to process a wide range of superior folding boxes - and that extremely productively and with minimal waste," explains Thomas Kalkreuth, from product management for die cutters and folder gluers at Heidelberg. The advantages of the Easygluer 100, such as its easy operation, reap particular dividends for those with short to middle runs. The Easygluer 100 is especially suitable for commercial printers who want to broaden their business model and provide full service. In addition, it is also of interest to folding-box specialists: they can add further modern production capacities or replace folder gluers that are aging.

The standard Easygluer 100 processes straightline and lockbottom folding boxes as well as folding boxes with lids. In addition, there is also an option to manufacture four- and six-corner collapsible boxes, for example those used for packaging chocolates or other sweets. Included in its repertoire are also CD and DVD cases in addition to special boxes - provided that the necessary optional folding elements are employed.
Master Complicated Jobs with Confidence
An optional alignment module contributes to high product quality. It ensures the exact supply of blanks. This includes asymmetric ones which are normally problematic to process. This is done even with tricky materials like corrugated board. "The alignment module aligns blanks precisely and sends them on to the pre-folder. This increases production reliability while shortening make-ready times in the feeder," reports Kalkreuth.

Processing then continues just as smoothly. This is because the pre-folder, lockbottom module and folding station possess an upper and lower central transportation system. This, like all transportation systems, possesses lightweight aluminum roller bars, which transport the blanks reliably to each processing station. Even large-format blanks with widths of up to 3.3 feet (100 centimeters) are safely run through the machine before being glued at the 9.5-foot (2.9 meters) long folding station, carefully folded and then pressed. "The Easygluer 100's broad range of folding boxes, as well as its multitude of options, offer commercial printers the possibility of covering almost the entire spectrum of folding boxes. And thanks to functions such as the alignment module and quick-action clamping device, which ensure reliable production, high quality and easy operation are also guaranteed," concludes Thomas Kalkreuth.
