Heidelberg looking to further increase its share of
expanding Brazilian market
Edições Loyola, one of Brazil's longest-standing
publishing and printing companies, recently inaugurated its new
Eurobind Pro. This adhesive binder from Heidelberger Druckmaschinen
AG (Heidelberg) is the first machine of its kind to be installed in
the Americas. The Eurobind Pro impresses by combining a high level
of automation and short makeready times with excellent efficiency
and cost-effectiveness for any run length. What's more, it can
process up to 6,000 booklets an hour. The machine's excellent
price-performance ratio and the comprehensive range of services
available were key factors in the customer's purchase decision.
Brazilian and German engineers worked together to meet the delivery
and installation schedule, including test runs. "With the Eurobind
Pro, we can now offer our customers greater quality, flexibility,
and productivity," explains Ryad Adib Bonduki, General Director of
Edições Loyola. "High-quality products, good prices, and
better delivery times will enable us to increase our market share
by holding onto existing customers and winning new ones. We are
more than satisfied with the performance of the new Eurobind Pro,"
he adds.
The Brazilian print shop based in São Paulo now works
almost exclusively with Heidelberg equipment in prepress, press,
and postpress. According to Edições Loyola, this results
in high customer satisfaction and very good business relations.
Edições Loyola had been founded by Jesuits more
than 50 years ago and has 150 employees. All profits are invested
in social and charitable projects, thereby respecting the mission
and spirit of the Jesuits. The company has released more than 3,500
of its own publications, including both specialist and religious
works. Edições Loyola also prints items for other
publishing houses, including Editora Saraiva and Editora Cosac
Naify, who are famous in Brazil for the high quality standards of
their books. In addition to books, Edições Loyola also
prints and publishes "Mensageiro do Coração de Jesus"
(Messenger of the Heart of Jesus). This subscription-only magazine
with ten editions each year currently has a circulation of 115,000
and is distributed throughout Brazil.
"The first Eurobind Pro will have a strong impact on the Brazilian
publishing market and will certainly lead to further projects. The
deal shows the strong confidence of Edições Loyola in
Heidelberg and Heidelberg Brazil, and we will certainly take good
care of this trust," stresses Stephan Plenz, member of the
Management Board responsible for Heidelberg Equipment, who attended
the inauguration ceremony. "We see Brazil as one of the most
important emerging markets with great growth potential. Heidelberg
has a market share of over 60 percent here and is looking to
increase this further still as new print shops continue to open,"
he adds. Dieter Brandt, General Manager of Heidelberg Brazil,
agrees: "Our aim is to offer Brazil and South America the best
solutions and services, including training. With initiatives by
entrepreneurs like Mr. Bonduki who support growth and necessary
modernization, the Brazilian publishing market can grow in line
with demand and realize its enormous potential."
