Long Perfecting Presses: Sheet Millionaires Report
With a 70 percent market share, Heidelberg is the global market
leader for long perfection presses in format 27.6 x 39.4 inch (70 x
100 centimeter). But instead of singing our own praises, let's let
one of our customers report on how he reached his exceptional
productivity goals.
Anton Group Ltd. (UK):
With CutStar Please!
"We considered other alternatives, but quickly
returned to Heidelberg and the Speedmaster SM 102-P. Our main
reason for this is Heidelberg's continuous commitment to improve
the presses' productivity while taking all environmental aspects
into consideration", says John Knight, CEO of the Anton Group
Ltd.
Mr. Knight, which machines do you use?
We produce 24 hours a day on seven Speedmaster SM
102-12-Ps, all equipped with CutStar. And that six days a week.
What products do you manufacture?
We manufacture the whole spectrum of commercial
products, such as brochures, product catalogues and advertisement
folders on the offset perfecting presses.
Why do you use the perfecting presses for these orders?
Runs often range between 70,000 and 80,000 sheets. Each
of our perfecting presses can tackle eight such orders per day.
That means around one million sheets per machine each week.
And we need that high output.
Why twelve colors with perfecting and CutStar?
The twelve-color Speedmasters allow us the most
flexibility. After all, we print a lot of company publications four
over four or five over five, and often a special color is added on
top of that. And in terms of CutStar, it makes it possible for us
to cut the exact format needed for the respective order. Aside from
that, reel paper costs us less than sheets.
You place a lot of value on sustainable operations?
Yes, conserving our natural resources is really important
to us. That's why we use automatic ink feeding systems that reduce
wastage and require less packaging. And using CutStar saves a lot
of paper, of course.
