Inline Die Cutting
Kiss-cutting is most commonly required for promotional stickers but
is also used for foodstuff labeling and toys. During production, it
is important to perform kiss-cutting accurately so as not to damage
the substrate.
The adjacent sheet with stickers was produced in a single
pass on a Speedmaster SM 52 with coating unit and inline diecutting
unit. UV inks are used for the process colors. These are applied in
the first four printing units and then hardened. Next, the coating
unit is used to apply a full-area UV high-gloss coating inline. The
diecutting unit operates while the coating is still wet,
kiss-cutting the stickers and cutting right through the labels. The
coating is hardened in the delivery by the UV end-of-press dryer.
