At drupa 2008, the online portal Flyeralarm, located in
Würzburg, Germany, and its production facility Druckhaus
Mainfranken opted for two Speedmaster XL 145-4 presses with Prinect
Inpress Control from Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg).
Druckhaus Mainfranken is a joint subsidiary of Flyeralarm and
Schleunungdruck GmbH in Marktheidenfeld. The second press, which
was taken into three-shift operation at the start of November 2009,
has more than met the high expectations of the management team.
Christoph Schleunung, Managing Director and one of the
managing partners of Druckhaus Mainfranken, praises the new
machine's high degree of automation and availability: "We have
been impressed with the XL technology from Heidelberg for many
years. Therefore, we were delighted when the company extended this
technology to large-format printing at drupa. Our machines can
handle up to 30 job changes per shift. Taking into account the
number of customers and delivery dates this involves, it quickly
becomes clear how important efficient production and optimum
reliability is."
Jan Barthel, Technical Print Manager at the Marktheidenfeld site,
adds: "In terms of production, the Prinect Inpress Control system
is key. The machine controls the registration and inking processes,
thus easing the operator's workload considerably. In view of
the large number of setup processes we handle every day, this is
one of the machine's main attractions - in addition to the
saving in waste. What's more, the continuous adjustment process
ensures consistent inking throughout the production run."
Flyeralarm and Druckhaus Mainfranken specialize in the
production of standardized print products at three German sites in
Bavaria and Saxony. Their portfolio ranges from small-format
advertising and business stationery through to brochures and A0
posters.
Heidelberg unveiled its new large-format Speedmaster XL 145
and XL 162 series to the public at drupa 2008. Since then, around
30 of these presses have been sold in Germany and other countries.
The sixth press is currently being installed in Germany.
