At drupa 2012 in Düsseldorf, the Brazilian commercial print
shop Midiograf from Londrina in the state of Paraná invested
in a complete package worth EUR 3.3 million from Heidelberger
Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg). The order includes a Speedmaster SX
102 eight-color perfecting press - the first of its kind in South
America - a Eurobind Pro adhesive binder - one of the first in
Brazil - and a Stahlfolder TH 82 buckle plate folding machine.
Midiograf recently celebrated its 20th anniversary and is now
considered a benchmark for top quality in the region and throughout
Brazil. Just under 200 employees produce high-quality catalogs,
brochures, and books. "With this investment in a new press and
postpress equipment, we are looking to extend our vertical range of
manufacture in order to offer our customers a faster service and
higher quality," explain Midiograf's joint owners Nivaldo and
Edson Benvenho.
"The Eurobind Pro and the Stahlfolder TH 82 are the ideal choice
for matching the speed of the Speedmaster SX 102. Overall, we are
aiming to boost our productivity by over 40 percent," they add.
The Eurobind Pro will be installed this September. It will be
followed by the TH 82 folding machine and the Speedmaster SX 102,
which is replacing a Speedmaster SM 74 four-color press, at the
beginning of 2013. Midiograf will then have 21 printing units from
Heidelberg in the 35 x 50, 50 x 70, and 70 x 100 centimeter (13.78
x 19.69, 19.69 x 27.56, and 27.56 x 39.37 inch) formats. The two
companies' working relationship dates back many years and
started with the purchase of a Speedmaster SM 74 two-color press in
1996.
Heidelberg offers optimum solutions and services for growth
market of Brazil
Delivering solutions for key market trends such as lean
production, web-to-print, and green printing, the portfolio that
Heidelberg exhibited at drupa met with a very favorable response in
the growth market of Brazil. The Speedmaster SX machine platform
launched at drupa 2012, which makes technologies from the
high-performance Speedmaster XL class available to the medium
market segment, has already gained a foothold on the Brazilian
market. The impressive new Eurobind Pro adhesive binder combines a
high level of automation and short makeready times with excellent
efficiency and cost-effectiveness for both short and long runs.
What's more, it can process up to 6,000 brochures an hour.
Edições Loyola, one of Brazil's longest-standing
publishing and printing companies, has also been won over by the
machine's excellent price-performance ratio. South
America's first Eurobind Pro entered into service at this
company some time ago. The Stahlfolder TH 82 buckle plate folding
machine combines exceptional quality with a high level of
automation and excellent flexibility.
Thanks to its high growth potential, Heidelberg sees Brazil as one
of the most important emerging markets and is looking to further
increase its current market share of over 60 percent.
