Speedmaster SM 52 - User Report: Pinnacle Press
Pinnacle Press, Canton, Ohio - "I'm very proud of my
Heidelberg acquisitions"
"If I'm going to buy something, I'm going to buy
the best. And is has always paid off", is how Mike Kettlewell,
the co-owner of Pinnacle Press, explains his philosophy and his
passion for Heidelberg. Pinnacle Press Inc. has been working with
Heidelberg presses since 1976 when the shop first opened. He is
very proud of this history, in particular his latest acquisition, a
Speedmaster SM 52-5-P-H, installed in 2001. He is aware that his
customers also place great trust in a print shop producing on
Heidelberg equipment. "They feel very confident that their
product will get done on time and they get a very good-looking
product", he says.
Although Mike Kettlewell had already used an earlier
Speedmaster SM 52 model before upgrading in 2001 and therefore knew
what to expect, he is still very impressed with the increase in
productivity and production quality he achieved with the new
Speedmaster SM 52 with Prinect CP2000 Center. Pinnacle Press
especially profits from the high user-friendliness and versatility
of the press. As their lead times are generally two to four days
and their customers expect high-quality work, the quick turnaround
times and the outstanding print quality, which the press ensures,
are also very important assets.
Most importantly, however, Mike Kettlewell praises the
top-notch Heidelberg Sales and Service. "The sales force does
an excellent job of realising what their customers need, they never
try to oversell, they've only acknowledged the needs of
Pinnacle Press," he says and adds: "They have the utmost
respect for their customer, their knowledge is second to none.
Their business decisions are fantastic." Mike Kettlewell and
his employees are also very satisfied with the thorough press
training Heidelberg provided. "There are so many features on
the Speedmaster SM 52 that the production teams needed some time to
grasp it all, but the trainers just put in all the time we needed.
We never felt shorted."
Mike and his sisters Vicky and Shelly run Pinnacle Press in
the second generation. They employ administrative staff of eight
and production staff of 13 employees working over 1.5 shifts. They
use their Speedmaster SM 52 for printing commercial advertising
material, mostly direct mailing and high-end advertising products,
and produce around 14-15 million sheets every year. For smaller
runs, ranging from envelopes and labels to identity packages,
Pinnacle Press owns a Printmaster QM 46-2. To provide the full
service his clients demand, Mike relies on Heidelberg equipment
also for prepress and postpress. His installations include a
Prosetter 74 with a complete Meta Dimension workflow and two
newly-installed Stahlfolders as well as a POLAR cutting system.
