Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) will be delivering the
1000th Speedmaster CX 102 printing unit to a customer in Germany by
the end of this year. This confirms what initial sales successes
showed soon after this press was presented at the UK trade show
IPEX 2010 - the Speedmaster CX 102 has been completely accepted by
customers as an answer to the market move toward maximum
productivity and economic success. The combination of the proven
platform of the CD 102 series and the innovative key technologies
of the XL 105 series has impressed large numbers of customers in
industrial advertising and packaging printing throughout the world
- both in industrialized nations and emerging markets. Some
customers have already ordered a second press.
Fifteen presses were sold following the press's
presentation at IPEX, despite delivery of the series-produced
presses not being able to start until September 2010. The
Speedmaster CX 102 was also the highlight at Expoprint in Brazil
and at the Open House events in Germany, Malaysia, Japan, and the
U.S.
As a result of the ramp-up's completion in early 2011, it was
also possible to target the Chinese growth market. The Speedmaster
CX 102 also enjoyed further major success at PrintChina in Dongguan
with sales of over 40 presses. China is today the most important
sales market for the Speedmaster CX 102, followed by Germany,
Italy, France, and Taiwan. The press is now being used successfully
throughout the world - from Mexico to Australia and from Sweden to
South Africa.
The Speedmaster CX 102 will be showcased at drupa 2012, in
the packaging printing section in Hall 1, under the HEI
Productivity banner.
"Many customers are impressed with our XL technology, which,
with the Speedmaster CX 102, they can now also use on their
well-known and established Speedmaster CD 102 platform,"
explains Stephan Plenz, Member of the Management Board responsible
for Heidelberg Equipment.
"With the Speedmaster CX 102, we have completed a
successful technology transfer and are able to offer an interesting
alternative for precisely these customers. The success proves that
we are on the right track, as shown by the sales figures. We have
scored a resounding success with the Speedmaster CX 102," adds
Plenz.
Most environmentally friendly press in its class thanks to
optimum energy efficiency
As a pioneer of ecological printing, Heidelberg develops
solutions to eliminate or reduce CO2 and process emissions and
waste. Consequently, the technology of the Speedmaster CX 102 sets
standards in more than just productivity. Its high energy and
resource efficiency make it the most environmentally friendly press
in its class. The Star System peripherals are perfectly coordinated
with the press. They are highly efficient and designed to save
energy and resources. For instance, state-of-the-art turbo radial
blowers used for the press air supply are twice as efficient as
conventional alternative solutions. The highly efficient dryer
systems are perfectly integrated and specifically designed to
complement sheet travel. Incorporated into the Prinect print shop
workflow, the Speedmaster CX 102 involves very little setup waste,
while XL feeder and delivery technology also ensure stability and
minimum waste in production. The Speedmaster CX 102 is certified as
a low-emission press by the German Institution for Statutory
Insurance and Prevention in the Printing and Paper Industry.
Low-alcohol or alcohol-free printing poses no problems at all. The
press can also be supplied on a carbon-neutral basis ex-works.
These are all key factors in achieving sustainable print
production.
Combining innovation and stability
The Speedmaster CX 102 features a perfect combination of
stability and innovation. With over 50,000 printing units
installed, the Speedmaster CD 102 represents the most successful
platform in the straight printing press sector worldwide. This
platform has been further enhanced and raised to a new performance
level with innovative XL technologies.
The Speedmaster CX 102 thus benefits from the key experience,
findings, and technologies obtained from the development of the
Speedmaster XL 105 - the only press on the market whose design from
the outset has been focused uncompromisingly on absolute maximum
performance. Examples include the fully automated Preset Plus
Feeder and Preset Plus Delivery, dynamic sheet brake, new cylinder
bearings, and gripper systems. As a complete, finely tuned system,
the Speedmaster CX 102 ensures
a crucial competitive edge.
