The Eurobind Pro from Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg)
will be making its world premiere at IPEX 2010. This new adhesive
binder is based on the tried-and-tested Eurobind 4000, combining
its predecessor's short makeready times with a maximum output
of 6,000 cycles per hour. This currently makes the Eurobind Pro the
most cost-effective adhesive binder in its class, with up to 50
percent shorter makeready times than equivalent models. Prinect
Postpress Manager can be used to integrate the Eurobind Pro into
the production environment, which results in data and cost
transparency. The new adhesive binder is intended for commercial
printers and postpress specialists who will benefit from the
flexibility of the machine's modular design and its ability to
handle a wide range of products. The Eurobind Pro processes
paperbacks, magazines, annual reports, and image brochures with a
block (end-to-end) height of 140 to 450 mm (5.51 to 17.72 in), a
block width of 100 to 320 mm (3.94 to 12.60 in), and a block
thickness of 2 to 60 mm (0.079 to 2.36 in). It will be available
from May 2010.
Sophisticated and specialized products bring added value
In the growing segment of adhesive-bound products,
flexibility is one of the key investment criteria. The modular
design of the Eurobind Pro enables users to configure their very
own system. When configuring the gathering machine, they can select
anything from 4 to 32 feeders plus a criss-crossed delivery to suit
their particular requirements and applications. The adhesive binder
is available with both nozzle and roller application systems for
hotmelt and/or PUR adhesives, a back stripper, and a cooling
section with flexible configuration. Further modules can be added
to an existing installation at any time. Sophisticated and
specialized products can thus be offered and added to as required
to give customers greater added value. The Eurobind Pro is an
ingenious all-rounder. It processes short and long runs for both
standard and special jobs, and is also suitable for a wide range of
formats, substrates, and types of binding. This includes brochures
not bonded to the cover such as Swiss and Otabind brochures.
High process reliability and top quality
The developers at Heidelberg considered it important to
focus on process reliability and thus top quality. They have
therefore included a camera system for continuous quality
monitoring in the gathering machine's feeders and a laser
sensor that ensures a consistently high level of adhesive
application. All these measures combine to produce end products of
perfect quality.
Prinect Postpress Manager enables the binder to be integrated
into the entire print shop workflow. Job and presetting data such
as cutting and folding marks from prepress can be used directly for
the Eurobind Pro. Prinect Postpress Manager can also optimize each
day's jobs to further boost the system's cost-efficiency,
while precisely defined processes avoid errors and improve the
reliability of production systems.
