The signatures pass through two pairs of pressing rollers; the
pressure can be adjusted. The first pair of rollers smoothes the
signature to squeeze out any air trapped inside during the folding
operation, and the second creates sharp folds. This helps prevent
crumpling.
The PS pressing station is an add-on unit for folders. It
reduces the thickness of folded sheets after the last folding
operation and presses the folds to make them sharper. This makes it
significantly easier to stack signatures and creates the quality
signatures needed for saddlestitching or perfect binding. The PS is
a standalone, mobile unit equipped with an independent drive. Both
the infeed height and the speed are adjustable to match production
requirements.
