Color measuring system for direct spectral quality checks in the
CP2000 Center
In Hall 8 at IPEX 2002 in Birmingham, Heidelberger
Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) will be showcasing its solutions for
the networked printshop. The latest solution is the AxisControl
Prinect module, a standard color measuring system that has been
fully integrated into the CP2000 Center press control system.
Productivity and cost-effectiveness are boosted by a guided setup
procedure which ensures fast inking-up and stable production right
from the start.
The color measuring system in the CP2000 Center comprises an
innovative sheet delivery and a movable measuring bar with
measuring head. The new Prinect module uses spectrophotometric
technology to measure the color bar on the print sheet and
colorimetric technology to analyze it. It then calculates the
control parameters for online ink control. AxisControl thus
supports effective and direct quality checks on the CP2000 Center
press control system. The module is operated and the results
displayed via the CP2000 Center's touchscreen color display, the
height and tilt of which can be adjusted. This ensures fast,
reliable operation right from the start.
The trend towards smaller and smaller, top-quality runs means
that measuring technology is becoming increasingly important in the
setup procedure. Faster inking-up and continuous checks over the
entire print run ensure top quality and effective workflows.
AxisControl is available for all Speedmaster models, and is
particularly suitable for the Speedmaster SM 52, SM 74, CD 74 and
SM 74 DI models.
For industrial high-end applications, Heidelberg is
demonstrating version 2 of its tried-and-tested Prinect module
ImageControl. This color measuring system measures the entire print
image, adopts color reference values from the digital prepress and
generates color measuring data for generating ICC profiles.

With their advanced design, AxisControl and the CP2000
Center appear as a single unit, a feature that is carried through
into the operating concept, which attaches particular focus to
interactivity and providing the user with full visual control.
