Heidelberg presents latest issue of Print Media Academy's Profi Tip on Ecological Printing

A new edition of Profi Tip, entitled "Ecological Printing", is now available. This guide is published by the Print Media Academy of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg). The new Profi Tip gives a concise summary of the key facts on eco-friendly printing and explains how print shops can take an integrated approach to meeting this challenge and thus combining economy and ecology. In seven sections, Profi Tip gives practice-based information on a whole range of topics relating to consumables, print shop operations, carbon offsetting, staff motivation, and communication. Profi Tip details opportunities for funding and the first steps kicking off the process toward an environmentally friendly print shop.

It is important that interested companies do not make only some aspects of the production process more eco-friendly. Instead, they must develop a comprehensive overview and integrate all areas in their entirety. As well as the individual production steps, this also means involving employees and suppliers. It is particularly difficult to bring about lasting changes in behavior, as everyone involved quickly reverts to established behavioral patterns. This is where the motivation section can help.

Profi Tip is aimed at print shops that aren't yet active in eco-friendly printing and are looking to find out how they can position themselves effectively as ecological print shops. They learn what measures need to be taken in a step-by-step process and how this can be expertly communicated to the outside world. After all, the trigger for developing an environmental focus often comes from the outside. For many large print customers, certifications have become a prerequisite for placing orders.
However, print shops that are already positioned on the market can also gain insights and discover how they can expand their existing offerings.

The benefits of an integrated environmental approach are considerable - as well as the positive effects in terms of image and credibility, which also include long-term improvements in competitiveness as a result of ongoing optimization in energy and material efficiency.
