New Hardware and Software Accessories Enhance Productivity of Heidelberg’s Digimaster Print Systems

The popular Digimaster product family will provide greater
productivity for print providers looking to grow their businesses,
as a result of new software enhancements and product accessories
announced today by Heidelberg.
The company today unveiled a portfolio of software and hardware accessories for Digimaster print system customers, including:

Software for improved productivity
Digital print providers have benefited from ImageSmart Document Mastering software's powerful job submission and document mastering functions, which enable them to save time in setting up jobs and reduce waste caused by job set-up errors. The new ImageSmart Document Mastering 2.1 incorporates the popular functionality of the current software and offers additional capabilities for greater productivity.
Utilizing the industry-standard Adobe Acrobat 5.0 software, ImageSmart Document Mastering 2.1 features the new SmartBoard 1.1 software plug-in, which enables a number of new functions.
New Digital Print Production Software 5.0, now available, is also designed to improve productivity, provide ease of use and the flexibility to produce more customized and complex jobs. Enhancements include support for custom paper sizes, automated accounting reports, remote monitoring and a Japanese-language interface. The improved user interface provides the ability to change print range and cancel multiple jobs at once. The print production software release also offers integration to a variety of accessories, including multiple stackers, an in-line hole puncher and roll feeders.
Linking more finishing options
Heidelberg's Parallel Interface is a small black box that "talks"" to the digital front end of the Digimaster system, sending an electronic signal to the marking engine about the device the piece will be finished on. It is easily programmed for full integration with a complete range of finishing equipment - so customers can maximize their existing equipment investment. The hardware accessory connects to the back of the Digimaster print system.
Hardware from Hunkeler
Ideal for the transactional printing market, the Standard Hunkeler SF-4H roll-to-sheet feeder virtually eliminates paper-loading time, as a result of its 60,000-sheet capacity and up to 18 hours of non-stop printing. The roll-sheet feeder is designed with the customer in mind. It features a centralized control console, easy-to-use touchscreen and rotary cutting for precise and consistent cuts - all within a small footprint to fit customers' existing space. The Hunkeler product offering marks the second roll-feed option for the Digimaster - it announced integration with Roll Systems' DocuSheeter DI last year.
The new hardware and print production software solutions will in Europe be available from November 2002.

- The ability to work with documents stored in MosaicSoft's DocSmart product. DocSmart is an online management solution that lets users store, organize, manage, access and share business records over the Internet

- A mechanism to synchronize the SmartBoard paper catalog with the paper catalog on the Digimaster.
- Embedding of all job ticket requirements are embedded into the document, allowing great flexibility in workflow options and quick and easy reporint capabilities - enabling users to set the job up once and print when needed.
