Cooperation with Thomas Cook/spotlight on digital printing
applications
At CeBIT 2003 in Hanover (Hall 1, booth 6a2),
Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) will be demonstrating
under the slogan "Digital Inspirations" how to make the
most of sales potential with digital printing and workflow
solutions. As well as Heidelberg's complete digital printing
solutions for the color and black/white sectors, the focus will
also be on practical applications of the technol-ogy. Heidelberg is
teaming up with tourism specialist Thomas Cook to show trade show
visitors how consumer media can be personalized using the example
of interactive TV. Television will be combined with variable data
printing in an inte-grated print job demonstration. The example
shows how digital technology can help improve communication between
companies and their customers.
"We are using CeBIT 2003 to give our customers and other
interested parties a clear illustration of the business
opportunities and competitive advantages of digital printing.
Visitors to the trade show will have the opportunity to savor the
technical perfection of our comprehensive digital print solutions
and experience the wide range of applications that variable data
printing can offer", explains Holger Reichardt, Marketing,
Sales and Service Director at Heidelberg.
Thomas Cook at Heidelberg
At the Heidelberg trade show booth, eight television monitors
will be installed showing the current Thomas Cook TV advertisement.
Visitors can interrupt the ad at any time using an info button and
a remote control element and obtain customized, detailed
information about the relevant destination. This information is
then printed out and sent to the interested party. This integrated
print job demonstration will feature all the Heidelberg digital
printing systems (NexPress 2100, Digimaster 9110cp/9150i and the
Quickmaster DI 46-4 Pro). The offers are classified according to
the four Thomas Cook "worlds":
- Total relaxation
- Active adventure
- Exclusive enjoyment
- Cultural discovery
The data input by the interested party provides companies with
information and customer profiles, which then form an excellent
basis for CRM activities. All the offers are real, high-quality
Thomas Cook holidays which can actually be booked. There will also
be a competition on the subject of travel. The whole demonstra-tion
revolves around a show that takes place several times a day at the
booth and is presented by the well-known TV entertainer Niels Ruf.
Digital print solutions from Heidelberg at CeBIT 2003
Digital finishing
For Heidelberg, CeBIT 2003 will mark the introduction to the
European market of the Probinder - the first unit to support
variable wire comb binding. Heidelberg will be demonstrating the
Inline version of the Probinder in conjunction with a Digimaster
9150i. Inline production of wire-comb-bound books represents both a
milestone in the postpress sector and a world first.
Digimaster 9110cp / 9150i - output management
Heidelberg will be unveiling the black/white Digimaster 9110
cp (cp = commercial print) digital printing system which can
process a number of different paper formats and can be integrated
into Heidelberg's MetaDimension workflow. Another German trade
show first will be the Digimaster 9150i with different software and
finishing applications and the roll feeder from Hunkeler.
Heidelberg will also be showcasing DataXceed at CeBIT. This output
management software, which is available for the Digimaster, is able
to process virtually all standard data center file formats and at
CeBIT will be aimed primarily at potential customers from industry,
administration, banks, insurance companies and telecommunications.
NexPress 2100
The NexPress 2100, which has been available since Print 01 in
Chicago, was the world's first digital color press. Heidelberg
is now selling it successfully in 14 countries. It will present the
high-performance system at CeBIT as a high-quality solution for
variable data printing, Web-to-Print and Print On Demand in
combination with NexTreme personalization software. This solution
is thus aimed primarily at customers who are either already using
or are considering moving into efficient 1:1 marketing with
completely variable data printing.
Quickmaster DI 46-4 Pro
The Quickmaster DI 46-4 Pro, which will also be on show at
CeBIT, combines digital prepress with waterless offset printing.
The model on show will feature a package consisting of new plate
material and format-dependent spooling, the combination of which
considerably enhances the cost-effectiveness of the Quickmaster DI.
The presentation highlights the end-to-end digital workflow which
extends right up to the press. The main target customers for the
Quickmaster DI Pro are prepress companies, digital printers and
advertising agencies looking to move into the growing market for
short-run color.
Prinect
This will be Prinect Systemhaus' second outing at CeBIT,
and will feature the presentation of JDF-compatible workflow
solutions such as Prinect Printready and MetaDimension.
Heidelberg's overall aim is to demonstrate through its
work-flow solutions how media service providers can boost their
competitiveness over the long term with an end-to-end workflow
customized to meet their needs.
Print Media Academy / Linotype Library / System Service
The Print Media Academy (PMA) is to present its latest
seminar portfolio. The seminar program is based around digital
printing and workflow ("Making a professional move into
digital printing", "Business planning for digital
printing" and "Strategic sale of digital printing")
and is aimed not only at potential participants from the print
media industry but also at marketing experts.
Both Linotype Library with its "Corporate Type" and
"Font Explorer" and the System Service department with
remote service concepts specifically for digital printing will also
be represented again at the Heidelberg booth - booth 6 A2, Hall 1.
