The high demand proves that, for many companies, the Speedmaster CX
102 has been launched just in time. More than 50 customers have
already opted for the new all-rounder. It combines the successful
platform of the Speedmaster CD 102 with the high-performance
technology of the XL 105. With its 16 500 sheets per hour, the new
performance category is exactly in between the CD 102 and the XL
105. "With the Speedmaster CX 102, we are offering just the right
price-performance ratio for many customers, making it a safe
investment", says Product Manager Rainer Wolf.
The right press for the current market situation
Immediately after IPEX 2010, Pinguin Druck GmbH in Berlin commissioned a Speedmaster CX 102-4+L - the first one worldwide with Prinect Inpress Control. "For us, the CX 102 is the ideal press. It enables us to drastically minimize make-ready times and paper waste and to grow profitably", says Managing Director Alexander Mende.
Capacity increase thanks to premium technology
The high-performance components of the XL platform as well as the far more robust printing unit design create a significant added value. These components include the gripper systems and the reinforced printing units, which ensure a smooth sheet travel. For Pinguin Druck, this premium technology tipped the scales in favor of the Speedmaster CX 102. "With our job structure, we need to get the press ready and ink up fast. That is why the inline color regulation was essential for us", explains Mende. Prinect Inpress Control measures and controls the ink and the register during operation. That way, production run is reliable at Pinguin Druck, while make-ready times are extremely short and far less paper is spoiled. The company saves between 100 and 150 sheets per job. "We mainly print short runs. Therefore, we were surprised that we are often still able to operate the press at its maximum speed of 16,500 sheets per hour. Besides, we process our long print runs more efficiently and therefore operate more profitably", continues Alexander Mende.
Just the additional flexibility needed

Thanks to its modular design, customized press configurations are possible. "The demand ranges from conventional four-color presses up to double-coating configurations with 11 units", reports Product Manager Wolf. Anything goes: be it UV operation, mixed operation with conventional and UV inks, or a Duo configuration, the CX 102 offers a wide range of options right through to cold foil application with FoilStar or an integrated CutStar sheeter.

The integration in the Prinect printshop workflow also saves time and money. All settings can be entered centrally at the high-performance control station Prinect Press Center. The large wallscreen gives printers a clear overview of the situation and enables them to control the jobs with a few clicks.
And what is more, the Speedmaster CX 102 is a certified low-emission press. The possibility of printing without alcohol as well its low energy consumption make the CX 102 one of the most environmentally friendly presses on the market while at the same time saving maintenance costs. "The Speedmaster CX 102 offers a highly attractive package of productivity, flexibility, and cost-efficiency. And that is exactly what our customers want", concludes Wolf.
